So I just watched the Kentucky Derby and the horse I was rooting for was the filly Eight Bells, because she's the first filly to run in eight years and ya gotta lover the female underdog.
She starts well and pounds away to a second place finish to Big Brown.
Next thing you know, we're seeing images of a horse collapsed on the track and we hear it's Eight Bells. Then the doctor comes on and apparently something happened in the minute after the race to cause the filly to break both front ankles and she had to be put down immediately, because there is no way for a horse to come back from an injury like that.
Holy Crap! Eight Bells goes from second place in the Kentucky Derby to being put down in less then five minutes.
That just sucks.
